They say you should only eat oysters in months with an “R.” Now that it’s September, oyster season is officially here. Austin might not sit on the coast, but the city offers plenty of briny East Coast oysters. From raw bars to patios, this guide highlights the best places to enjoy oysters in Austin.

Austin Oyster Co.

Best for: Pop-ups and Private Parties
Austin Oyster Co. serves East Coast oysters with Southern hospitality. Their permanent oyster bar will open in 2025. Until then, you can catch them at frequent pop-ups or book them for private events. Expect oyster carts and fresh shucking on-site, perfect for weddings and celebrations.

Clark’s Oyster Bar

Best for: Classic Austin Oyster Vibes and Happy Hour
Since 2012, Clark’s has been a go-to for seafood in Austin. The patio is iconic, the marble bar always buzzing, and the menu leans New England. Their oyster list includes varieties from Prince Edward Island and Massachusetts. Even better, happy hour runs weekdays from 3–5 pm with 50 cents off oysters, $5 shooters, and half-off martinis and burgers.

Eddie V’s

Best for: Fine Dining and Oyster Flights
Eddie V’s offers a refined oyster experience. Their raw bar features East Coast selections like Summer Love from Prince Edward Island and Shooting Point from Virginia. Each order arrives on ice with cocktail and mignonette sauces. Start with oysters, then move on to prime steaks or lobster tacos.

Este

Best for: Oysters with a Mexican Coastal Twist
Este brings coastal Mexico to East Austin with a bright, lively atmosphere. Their raw oysters pair perfectly with mezcal cocktails. The happy hour deals are strong: 50 cents off oysters plus discounts on seafood towers, ceviche, and margaritas. It’s an ideal spot to spend a sunny afternoon.

Fish Shop

Best for: Neighborhood Oyster Hangouts
Fish Shop keeps things casual and welcoming. Order oysters by the dozen, sip a crisp martini, or even enjoy a Guinness. Beyond oysters, you’ll also find fish and chips, crudo, and one of the most underrated burgers in town.

J Carver’s

Best for: Raw Bar Meets Steakhouse
On West 6th, J Carver’s combines a steakhouse with a standout oyster bar. Their daily selection is served with cocktail sauce, mignonette, and fiery atomic horseradish. It’s a top choice when your group wants both oysters and premium steaks.

Mongers Market + Kitchen

Best for: Grab-and-Go Seafood and Oysters
Mongers is part fish market and part restaurant. You can enjoy oysters at their raw bar or buy fresh seafood to take home. This mix makes Mongers a reliable stop for anyone craving oysters in East Austin.

Parkside

Best for: Downtown Raw Bar and Oyster Wednesdays
Parkside has been an East 6th Street fixture since 2008. Their raw bar features Northeast oysters, ceviche, and tartare. Every Wednesday, they host Oysters and Bubbles Night with half-off oyster platters and sparkling wine. Transition into happy hour Sunday through Friday for even more deals.

Perla’s Seafood and Oyster Bar

Best for: Iconic South Congress Patio
Perla’s delivers fresh oysters daily in the heart of South Congress. The oak-shaded patio is one of Austin’s best. Their oyster list reads like an East Coast tour, featuring Dixon Point, Savage Blonde, and Salty Mainer. Pair your order with rosé or try their popular oyster shooters for a lively twist.

Salt Traders Coastal Kitchen

Best for: Happy Hour Oysters and Coastal Comfort Food
Salt Traders brings beachside flavors to Austin. The team behind Jack Allen’s Kitchen created a spot inspired by coastal travels. Their happy hour runs Tuesday through Friday from 3:30–6:30 pm with $1 off oysters and tropical-leaning cocktails. It’s a relaxed way to enjoy fresh seafood after work.

Uptown Sports Club

Best for: Casual East Austin Hangouts and Grilled Oysters
Aaron Franklin’s Uptown Sports Club offers Louisiana-style brasserie fare in East Austin. The menu includes raw and grilled oysters. During happy hour Monday through Friday, you can get a half dozen for $17. Pair them with a cold beer or cocktail and enjoy the vintage neighborhood vibe.

Oyster Season is Here in Austin

Whether you want champagne and caviar or a dozen on a patio, Austin has an oyster spot for you. September marks the start of peak season, so make the most of the “R” months and enjoy some of the freshest East Coast oysters in town.

⚽ A Clash of Stars: MLS vs. LIGA MX

MLS’s 26-man roster features a mix of fan favorites, rising stars, and global legends. Players were selected via fan vote (12), coach’s picks by Nico Estévez (12), and two picks by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.

Among the biggest names:

  • Lionel Messi (Inter Miami CF), voted in by fans and making his MLS All-Star debut.

  • Brad Stuver and Brandon Vazquez of Austin FC, proudly representing the hometown club.

  • Chucky Lozano (San Diego FC), selected by the Commissioner in a surprise All-Star nod.

  • Denis Bouanga, Evander, and Diego Luna bring attacking firepower to the front line.

  • Jordi Alba and Miles Robinson anchor a strong defensive unit.

Facing off against them, LIGA MX’s 28-man roster is equally star-studded. Led by head coach Andre Jardine (Club América), the squad includes:

  • Sergio Ramos (CF Monterrey) and James Rodríguez (Club León), former Real Madrid teammates now turning heads in Mexico.

  • Henry Martín (Club América), a Balón de Oro nominee and proven goal threat.

  • Five players each from Toluca and Cruz Azul, fresh off championship seasons.

  • And 16-year-old Gilberto Mora (Club Tijuana), the youngest player on the field and already making waves.

After dominating MLS last year with a 4–1 win, LIGA MX will be looking for a repeat. But with this year’s match happening in Austin, MLS has the home-field advantage—and a sold-out crowd could tip the scales.

The Balloon Museum Is Landing in Austin This Month with a Massive Interactive Art Show

Get ready to float into a world where creativity knows no bounds. Balloon Museum’s “Let’s Fly – Art Has No Limits” opens in Austin on June 21, bringing more than 65,000 square feet of luminous, air-inspired art to North Austin. Originally founded in Rome, Balloon Museum has become an international sensation, known for merging contemporary art with inflatables, technology, and sensory experiences. Now, it’s taking over the Louis Shanks building on West Anderson Lane for its Texas debut!

A New Kind of Art Experience

This is far from your typical museum visit. “Let’s Fly – Art Has No Limits” features large-scale works from 20 acclaimed international artists, with installations that explore the themes of flight, lightness, and freedom. Expect glowing sculptures, immersive soundscapes, VR journeys, and surreal environments that invite you to explore art in entirely new ways.

A Few Highlights to Expect

Mariposa by Christopher Schardt: A 26-foot butterfly sculpture first seen at Burning Man 2023, covered in 39,000 LEDs. Visitors can swing underneath it, activating synchronized light and sound sequences.

BB by Tadao Cern: A dreamy mirrored installation made from hundreds of inflated balloons, exploring balance and symmetry.

AI Data Portal by Ouchhh: A data-driven installation that transforms environmental information into a mesmerizing light and projection experience.

ADA by Karina Smigla-Bobinski: A floating charcoal-covered sphere that leaves marks on the walls as it moves—an interactive, kinetic drawing experience you become a part of.
