Unless you are a scissor-wielding mama or papa with barber and stylist skills, taking your child to a kid-specific haircutting place can be soothing to little ones who aren’t used to getting haircuts… or strangers…. or people spraying stuff on their head. The unpredictable is the norm with little ones, and having a stylist who can quickly give your child a trim is worth their weight in gold, especially if your little one is prone to crying while sitting in the chair.

Many of the places below have special features including airplane chairs, videos, lollipops, and more to help ease the stress of haircuts for children. The places listed below have come to us highly recommended or we’ve used them ourselves for our kids. Most places recommend that you make an appointment but many also offer walk-in services.

We’ve noted the locations below that offer staff who are trained for sensory-friendly services. Be sure to call these locations ahead of time to schedule an appointment and mention that you need a sensory-friendly time slot.

Being the hip hippie town that it is, Austin boasts a plethora of farmers markets within the city limits—so many, in fact, that picking just one to visit on a weekend can be daunting. If you’re on a quest to eat better and fresher, here is a list of five markets where you’ll never go wrong:

Texas Farmers Market at Mueller

You can find everything you need to throw a legendary dinner party here.
