Jaws on the Water at Volente Beach

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Jaws on the Water is back on June 7th and 21st, and July 12th and 26th at Volente Beach Resort and Waterpark in Leander, TX. Since 2002, Alamo’s Rolling Roadshow has been putting on this one-of-a-kind summer event that made CNN ask, “Could there possibly be any scarier way to watch JAWS?”

African American Book Festival

Dr. Roz Oliphant Jones, a longtime educator and bookseller in Austin, Texas had a vision to organize a book festival in Austin similar to the Harlem Book Fair in New York. In 2006, she reached out to writer Evelyn Martin Anderson and together they established the Austin African American Book Festival.
